CSG Actuarial has compiled information from the NAIC and other sources and is reporting that total earned premiums in the Medicare Supplement market in 2019 totaled $34.0 billion, a 4.8% increase over 2018.

The 2019 overall Medicare Supplement market loss ratio of 80.4% reflects a continued trend in the market of the overall loss ratios increasing back to the “Pre-Modernized” loss ratio levels around 80%.
