For 2nd quarter 2021, CVS Health reported Medicare Supplement member in-force counts of 1,193,000, up 47,000 from 1st quarter 2020 and 239,000 over the past 12 months.  The 47,000 increase in membership during 2nd quarter 2021 was 15% higher than the membership growth in 2nd quarter 2020.  The 239,000 increase in membership in the past 12 months was 77% higher than the membership growth in the previous 12 months.  The table below shows CVS Health/Aetna’s Medicare Supplement enrollment counts by quarter since 1st quarter 2017.  CSG Actuarial projects CVS Health’s Medicare Supplement sales at 2nd in the overall market over the past 12 months.

CVS Health reported 2nd quarter 2021 Medicare Advantage lives of 2,911,000, a 1.3% increase over 1st quarter 2021 and a 9.8% increase over 2nd quarter 2020.  The table below shows CVS Health’s Medicare Advantage enrollment counts by quarter since 1st quarter 2017.  CVS Health’s Medicare Advantage lives rank 3rd in the market as of 2nd quarter 2021.

 As indicated in the table below, CVS Health’s combined Medicare Supplement and Medicare Advantage lives as of 3rd quarter were 4,104,000, a 13.8% increase over the total at 2nd quarter 2020.  CVS Health’s combined Medicare Supplement and Medicare Advantage lives ranked 3rd in the market as of 2nd quarter 2021.
