CSG Actuarial has compiled all of the new business rate increases implemented on Medicare Supplement blocks of business since 2011.  As discussed in previous CSG Actuarial blog posts, increases since 2024 have trended higher as carriers continue to attempt to catch up premium rate levels to the post-Covid claim utilization rates.  Based on data provided to CSG Actuarial as of January 2026, the average rate increase in 2025 was 10.6%, almost 3 points higher than 2024 and more than double the average between 2014 and 2023.  The initial results for 2026 indicate increases continuing to trend higher with the current year-to-date average for 2026 at 11.7%.  Historical average rate increases by year since 2011 are shown below.
