Aetna Continues Strong Medicare Supplement Growth in 2nd Quarter 2016
Aetna reported growth in the Medicare Supplement market in 2nd quarter 2016 that was higher than previous quarters. For 2nd quarter 2016, Aetna reported Medicare Supplement member in-force counts of 637,000, up 25,000 from 1st quarter 2016 and 130,000 over the past 12 months. The 25,000 increase in membership during 2nd quarter 2016 is 32% higher than the membership growth in 2nd quarter 2015. Humana Reports Continued Medicare Supplement Growth in 2nd Quarter 2016
Humana reported 2nd quarter 2016 Medicare Supplement lives of 212,300, a 38% increase over 2nd quarter 2015. The table below shows Humana’s Medicare Supplement enrollment counts by quarter since 1st quarter 2008 and annual increase in Medicare Supplement enrollment counts by quarter since 1st quarter 2009. Humana also reported 2nd quarter 2016 Medicare Supplement premiums of $106 million, up 43% from 2nd quarter 2015. Based on estimates from CSG Actuarial, Humana’s sales over the past 12 months continue to rank in the top 4 or 5 of the market.
