Medicare Supplement market leader UnitedHealthcare (UHC) released 1st quarter 2012 financials today adding 105,000 more lives.
The UHC report features Standardized and Modernized policy in-force counts of 3,040,000 as of 1st quarter 2012, a 105,000 increase over 4th quarter 2012 and a 200,000 increase over 1st quarter 2011. The 200,000 policy count growth over the last 12 months is a 7% increase over the policy counts at 1st quarter 2011.
As indicated in the following Exhibits–compiled by CSG Actuarial analysis using historical UnitedHealthcare financial reports–UnitedHealthcare’s Medicare Supplement policy in-force counts in 1st quarter 2012 continue to show a strong growth pattern that began in 1st quarter 2011.
CSG Actuarial is projecting this growth in policy in-force counts will generate $7.5 billion in Medicare Supplement premiums for UnitedHealthcare in 2012.
